Naturalisation while away on holiday

Post by Siraj ud-Daulah » Tue Aug 04, 2015 12:39 pm

Hi all,

What happens if you're away on holiday for two weeks and you're naturalised whist away?

Is there any deadline for example to attend the ceremony within 30 days?

Many thanks,
Siraj

You will only receive an approval letter and then the invitation to the ceremony (sometimes it can be one letter combined). You will have 21 days within which to book the ceremony and you have to attend the ceremony within 90 days.

You will only become British (naturalised) once you have attended the ceremony.

Did you apply using NCS so that you have your ILR BRP to re-enter the UK?

That's great knowing that I'd still have a week in hand should they send an approval letter while I'm on holiday. Yes, applied via NCS luckily

Thanks again!

Still holding thumbs for Siraj that you get a decision soon, especially after your MP received the letter :)

Have a good holiday and relax, hopefully a little brown envelope on your door mat when you get back.

I really hope so, thanks for keeping fingers crossed.

This has been a journey far too long, I've been in the UK since 2003 and whether it's an approved or refused application, I'm ready to receive the decision. :D
