Gap in employment for EEA during five year qualifying period

Post by skabal » Sun Dec 06, 2015 3:27 pm

Hi everyone. I've been visiting the forums for a long time, I just registered however, as I have a question I was hoping you can help me with.

I am an EEA national (Greek) and have been living in the UK since February 2010.
I have been working all that time, apart from a less than six month gap. More specifically,
I decided to leave my job on the 19th of December 2011 as I was't happy and I decided to move on, looking for a different job. By the time I left my employment I had already started sending CVs for consideration on new roles. I started attending interviews in January 2012. I only registered with Jobcentre Plus in late February 2012. I had visited earlier in January but I was told I wouldn't be able to claim jobseekers allowance as my bank savings marginally exceeded the threshold, over which someone doesn't qualify for Contributions based jobseekers allowance. I decided to wait a bit, while my savings fall below the amount they mentioned and then I registered with Jobcenter on the 24th of February 2012. I submitted a very high number of applications and attended quite a few interviews until I got a job offer in May 2012. I started working on the 11th of June 2012 and I'v been employed ever since.

I submitted my EEA PR application last week. I was wondering if the gap in my employment could potentially cause a problem for my application. As a supporting document for my application, I included an interview confirmation arranged by a recruitment agency in late January 2012 and another interview confirmation after my CV was reviewed by a company in February 2012. I also included Jobcenter letters covering February onwards and two rejection letters following interviews dating back in May 2012.

Any thoughts/experiences on this situation?

Many thanks in advance :)

You do not have to be registered as a job seeker as long as you can prove that you were looking for work (which you seem to have done by submitting application letters etc.) :)
All information given is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Thanks very much LilyLalilu. I greatly appreciate that you took the time to read my post and reply to me :)
I'll come back with timeline info and progression of my application for whoever might find it useful.
