How long before you submit your EEA(FM) application?

Post by ilirdemaj » Fri Dec 11, 2015 8:41 pm

Hi

I'm new here and please excuse my ignorance on this matter. My question is very simple. My friend received her EEA Family Permit which is valid for 6 month and moved about a month ago in UK. Her EEA family permit ends end of April. I understand she needs to apply for a residency card using the form EEA(FM) after 6 month, however, how long before her permit expires she's allowed to submit application?

Let say for argument sake if permit end end of April can she submit the EEA (FM) form in February or March? Is there a time frame/limit for this? She wants to make sure she doesn't leave it for last week or days.

I've searched online but there is no info about it.

Any advice on this matter would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

She can apply now or anytime, provided the EU citizen is exercising treaty rights.

Stop hijacking a thread. It is very discourteous.

In any case your question can only be answered in the negative .

You can't qualify until at least may next year.

Thanks for this. Do you have a link from HO to confirm this? It says nothing at the guidance note for EEA(FM) form.

Thanks very much again. Greatly appreciated.

Hi Ilirdernaj,

I myself applied for residence card only within 2 months before my EEA permit expired. Also, your spouse can live and work in the UK as long as you know for sure that you are excising your treaty rights.

Quote from the gov.uk website: You don’t need to apply for a residence card as a family member
