Hello,
I hope you can help me with my particular case.
I have been living in the UK with my partner for the last 14 months and we just got married. I am a non-EU national under a Tier 4 which expires at the end of the year. My wife is a EU national exercising her treaty rights as she is currently working. In fact, she already applied for a registration certificate and got it a couple of months ago.
Now, in the next month we are planning to apply for a UK residence card for me to be able to work and live in the UK after my Tier 4 expires. However, here is where things get a little bit confusing. Just before we plan to submit the application, my wife is switching 'qualified person categories' from EEA national worker to EEA national student as she is starting a PhD programme with a studentship from a British University. Therefore, I have to fill a different section in the EEA form (Section 16 instead of Section 12). I understand that there is different characteristics and documents that I have to provide, so I have some questions:
1) Does my wife has to apply for a different registration certificate as she is switching qualified person categories (from EEA worker to EEA student)?
2) On the application form mentions that 'students have to provide evidence of financial resources to support themselves and their family in the UK without needing to claim benefits/public funds', however it doesn't mention a minimum amount of money that has to be showed, does anybody know the exact number? Apart from a scholarship letter and a savings account, what other type(s) of evidence can be provided?
3) As we plan to submit a letter from the University stating that she is starting a PhD, however does it helps for the application to provide a letter from the current (soon to be former) employer of my wife stating that she has been working there for the last year, having X responsibilities, earning X amount of money, blah, blah... and attaching payslips from the last months?
4) I understand that because my wife is switching from worker to student now we have to provide evidence that we both have a 'Comprehensive sickness insurance', does anybody know what type of insurance is this? How comprehensive it has to be? anybody has a link providing further information about CSI?
Thank you very much
