For ILR is it 180 days or 90 days

Post by deb2016 » Sat Jul 02, 2016 2:23 pm

Hi

I have entered UK in April 2012. I am planning to apply for applying for ILR in future. I am a bit confused about the days of absence outside UK. Some of my colleagues are saying the period of absence cannot be > 90 days, whereas it is clearly written in UKBA that it is 180 days.

Obviously, you need to believe the written document. However my question is where from this 90 days rule came?

Could anyone help me please?

Kind regards
Deb

The 90 day rule applies to British Citizenship, where the applicant cannot be absent more than 90 days in the 12 month period prior to submitting the application.

You don't say under what visa category you are. The 180 days is only relevant to certain visas.
