Name change - how to book

Post by pulleyns » Sun Jul 24, 2016 1:21 am

I have changed my Mrs surname to my surname and already got her name changed on new passport and also got the national ID card.

She want to travel to pakistan wondering in what name should I book her air ticket ? Her visa sticker is with old name on previous passport.

She got Pakistani passport.

Please advice

National ID card? Do you mean a BRP? How will your wife return on a Pakistani passport? The airline won't permit boarding in Pakistan if her ticket is in a different name to the passport she is travelling on.

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.

Well she has two passports attached with each other with old name and new name.

Once you make the name change they issue you new passport. My Concern is that her visa is on her old passport with old name attached with new passport.

I have also got the deed poll which was certified by the foreign office in the UK stating her old name and new name and thats why Pakistan official issued her new passport.

It will cost me lot to transfer her visa sticker on new passport so will do at the time of her extension.

She is same person who changed it and want to book ticket ?

I was speaking to one ticket agent and they said Your UK visa is still valid. Carry both passports and proof of name change.

But need to know still under what name is should i book the ticket please.

Also on gov website its stated as bold

"You don’t have to transfer your visa - you can carry both your old and new passports when travelling to or from the UK instead."

Yes. Her new passport is her 'current' passport.
