My question was directed at user 'member'. It is irrelevant to your citizenship application. User member is just being nosey.Majid12 wrote:I am sorry. It's my mistake. I am so sorry that my question made you thought I was just being nosey.CR001 wrote:User member is just being nosey.
Is your friend claiming 25% discount on the Council Tax, for being the sole occupant? This he must not do if there are two of you living at the property and your name should have been given to the council tax office.Majid12 wrote:Basically my friend has taken complete flat and he is paying council tax regularly every month. Thx petaltop for reply. in above post croo1 clearly mentioned there is no name requirement of council tax for naturalization application.Petaltop wrote:Is your friend claiming 25% discount on the Council Tax, for being the sole occupant? Petaltop has a point, the onus is on you to ensure your CT is paid, don't just assume the landlord is paying it, ask for proof and that he's not claiming the 25% single adult occupancy relief for which he is not now entitled.Majid12 wrote:Thx petaltop for reply. in above post croo1 clearly mentioned there is no name requirement of council tax for naturalization application.Petaltop wrote:Is your friend claiming 25% discount on the Council Tax, for being the sole occupant? OP is living with a friend. The friend is named on the council tax as friends is tenant for whole property. Agree about checking regarding the 25% single person discount which would not be applicable in this case.Wanderer wrote:Petaltop has a point, the onus is on you to ensure your CT is paid, don't just assume the landlord is paying it, ask for proof and that he's not claiming the 25% single adult occupancy relief for which he is not now entitled.
It could effect you if the HO decide to dig or if a summons arrives before/during your application.
Always better to be sure with these, CT arrears are one of the few debts you can be imprisoned for.
Don't you have to tell the council who is living there too? Irrepsective of who pays? Going through this at the moment, moving to temp. house and then to new build.....CR001 wrote:OP is living with a friend. Not sure where the responsibilty lies so that's why I suggested the OP makes doubly sure.
