Requesting my passport back from Home Office

Post by tdealing » Wed Nov 02, 2016 2:43 pm

Hey, I have this big issue. I desperately need my passport as soon as possible. I used an online form and requested for my passport to be sent back to me but no luck so I used the other form and still no luck. I have called them and said that the case worker will call me within 5 days, but somehow I don't trust them, everything seems so wishy washy.
Does anyone have experience with this?

PS: I've already contacted my MP too so hopefully they will be able to help, but I don't understand what will my MP do? Don't they just write a letter?

Also If I cancel my application they say it will still take up to 10 days for my passport to be returned although no guaranteed.

Anyone know what I can do? I am so desperate.

What type of application have you made? unmarried or married?
Do you have any unexpired FP or RC?

Depending on circumstances, HO may or may not agree to return the passport.
And then, as you are finding out, the 10 day return target is not always met.

Unmarried and no criminal record or anything, used to be a student at university and now employed full time. I just wish there was an option I could cancel it and get my documents back.

What is the maximum amount of days they would take to send me my passpot if I was to cancel my application?

There's no real service standard for any of these processes; just a case of sit tight and wait and see.

Oh okay, that's so annoying though :(. So I am waiting for a call from the case worker, MP should be on the case as I emailed them and now....

I am hiring a solicitor, hopefully they'll be able to help me. I have a consultancy meeting with them tomorrow.

Hopefully one of them will be able to help me.
