Contacting the Home Office?

Post by orchard11 » Fri Nov 11, 2016 11:09 am

Question: is it possible?

I am an EU citizen, and I applied for naturalization in July i.e. 4 months ago. That is within the 6 months time frame that the HO gives itself for dealing with applications, but I'm also conscious that some people are getting the results of the HO's decision in 3 months or less. Is there any way of enquiring from the HO about the status of my application? I assume not (from the voice recording when I call UKVI), but would like to ask the Forum this question anyway.

Thank you in advance for any information you can give or comments you make.

HO won't give any update if 6 months has not passed.

Each application is assessed based on its own circumstances and merits, each case is different. There is no 'average' when it comes to citizenship. Some people are still waiting since 2014 and 2015 for an outcome.

2014? Oh. I'll shut up then.

Thanks for your response.

Hi. Happy to, but I can't remember whether I've already done so or not (!), and for some reason the search function does not appear on my screen view (so unless I scroll through 7/8 pages, I can't work out whether or not I need to post my timeline still). Not sure why. Do some users only have limited access to the functions on this site? I've looked at the FAQ, but they suggest using functionality I can't access.

New users have limited function access. Once you hit 30 posts, the full function becomes available.

You have not posted a timeline. The July link is below for you if you wish to post one.

A brief update.

I got the Home Office letter of approval yesterday (16 November). It was dated 7 November so, as I raised this query last week, the approval was already making its way towards me.

I will update my timeline when I know more about the ceremony dates, etc.

Thanks for people's input here. This is a great site.
