Tier 2 extension - salary

Post by Dites » Mon Nov 21, 2016 3:31 pm

Hi,

My visa is expiring in February 2017 and planning to apply for extension in January 2017. As I have read through this forum I need to have experienced salary. So when should my salary be increased is it one month before application or at the time when my COS is allocated?

My SOC code is 2139 and according to the below document it says I have to get £29900, but wanted to know if its for 39 hrs/week or 40 hrs/week.

Thanks, also I see that in autumn 2016 (i.e now) for experienced its £25000 and after April 2017 its increased to £30000, as I am applying in January 2017 should I have to get £29900 or £25000? Please see below link.

Use this to your advantage...
Great to time to ask your employer for a raise asap.

Why employees would be hoping for a lower minimum is really beyond me.

Anywho, have a look at the current official guideline (not web articles) and, more importantly, the specific rates for YOUR SOC code.

is this raise to 30K only applicable to new applications? Should everyone be working towards asking for a raise of salary even if they won't be applying for an extension soon?

This is for new applications, HOWEVER.. to your second question, I would say YES.
By all means let your sponsor know that you're expected to be paid at an experienced rate in the near future. The sooner they're aware of and actioning on it, the less it will be an issue when you have to extend your visa...

Again, if you're being sponsored, it should mean you're valuable enough for a company to go through all the motions. Use it to your advantage, don't let them treat you like cheap labour.

Thanks for your reply. And agreed, better to have this approach and work hard towards better salaries regardless
