How soon can you apply for extension FLR M

Hello,

I am currently on Spouse visa ( unmarried partner) which I switch over from PSW in 2015 which is about to expire in November.
I need to travel to Europe for work in October therefore I would like to know how sooner I can apply for extension.

Ideally shortly before you reach 2.5 years on your current visa. You don't say the date your visa was issued.

You can apply for an extension in person for a same day decision too.

I checked the website its mentions you should apply visa at least 28 days prior to expiry date.

My question is whether I can apply visa 2-3 months prior to expiry date or not?

If you apply earlier than 28 days before the expiry date of your current visa you risk having to submit an additional FLR(M) application to make up the shortfall before qualifying for ILR.

You can apply any time from 28 days up until the visa expiry date.
