Country of application

Post by Kultrunvisir » Mon Jun 12, 2017 10:18 pm

Hello all,

Did a search but wasn't able to find something similar as my case nor at UKVI website. Apologies in advance if there was one.

An A-Sponsor is interested in making me an offer. They recently asked me certain details of my degree and if it matches the role required, think they'll do the RMLT or they're already conducting it so I'm waiting for their reply if the process goes on with my application.

I might move to another country to acquire the citizenship as I can, so here's the question: if I receive the job offer/CoS, can I apply in this new country that I'll be living, with my non-local passport? or do I have to wait until I get the local passport in order to apply in this country?

Example: I'm Mexican and will go to Peru to live. Can I apply at Peru UK office with my Mexican passport? or do I have to wait until I get my Peru passport?

Thank you very much in advance with all the help you can provide.

You will need to prove that u have residency right in peru if u want to apply using mexican passport. Generally that means a student, work visa etc.
I dont know your particular circumstances, and mexicans maybe are allowed to live in peru without any visa and hence you could possibly apply from there too

Thanks very much both for your input.

@iWorker: I see, yes I'm a citizen where I'll go but my definitive papers will take 1 and a half month until then I'll be a tourist in said country. Wouldn't like to return to my original country just to apply for the TIER 2 visa (save $$) and maybe it's better to wait here until the employer give me their definitive reply than travel.

you wont be able to apply while your status is a visitor.
Also be advised that within cos, the employer has added your nationality and passport number. Make sure you apply on the same passport rather than the other cone.
