I am sorry if this is the wrong place to post, but I have a bit of a problem that I would like some advice for. My husband, a US national, has ILR since 2002 and has it stamped in his expired passport. He is disabled and virtually housebound and having his DLA switched to PIP earlier in the year, possibly January, he (me on his behalf) had to send his ILR papers into the DWP. These were subsequently lost either by the post office or the DWP. My question is, does his ILR stamp count in his passport as proof that he is allowed to stay here? If not, please can you advise what is the best course of action, given that he is virtually housebound. Thank you for your advice.
