Adult son to British dad naturalized after my birth

Post by sacredash » Tue Jul 11, 2017 5:48 am

Hi everyone.
I'm above 18 and wanted to know if I had a right to secure British citizenship. I'm a US citizen but moved immediately after I was born in 1992 to the UK. I moved away from the UK in 1998 and have only been back 3 or 4 times for a few weeks at a time. My father was a permanent resident at the time of my birth and received his naturalized citizenship in 1997. I was a permanent resident through my father during my 6 years in the UK but I doubt I have that now. Do I have a case to apply for British citizenship?
Thank you.

No you do not unfortunately. You dad could have registered you, or you could have applied in your own right when you turned 18.

Now you can't as you ILR is invalid owing to your absence.
