Visit UK after visa refusal

I've been married to a British for the past 8 years and my husband recently moved back to the UK. I applied for my settlement visa from outside the UK and it was refused based on a misinterpretation of our financial statements. We intend to appeal. Anyhow I plan on flying to the UK for Christmas with my son who is also British to join my husband and another son for the holidays. I am from a Commonwealth country and usually do not have to apply for a visitor visa to enter UK. Is there a chance where I will be refused entry? I have a return air ticket too. Was wondering how you got through with this? Because I am in the same situation as you now, appealing for our refused spouse visa now (financial reasons) and I'm afraid I'll be denied entry if I arrive at the immigration to visit my husband in the UK. I also don't require a visitor visa (I'm from Malaysia).
