Egyptian Army advice

Post by Rahimab » Sat Dec 16, 2017 5:13 pm

Hi

I'm British and I'm hoping to apply for my husband's spousal visa soon. My husband is Egyptian and he sent his papers to the army over two years ago. We never heard anything from the army apart from 5 months ago when they called him to their army base in Cairo. He went along to it and he had to sign with his finger print a declaration saying he will return in a month time to start his service. However he never returned because he was turning 30 in 5 months time and didnt want to spend over a year in the service.

So now he is 30 years old, literally yesterday, and I want to apply for his spousal visa. Can anyone tells me when he goes to get his army exemption what will happen. Will he be facing jail time or is he just going to pay a fine - I heard maximum is LE 15,000.

If anyone been in this situation any advice will be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

Not sure what you are expecting but this is not an immigration related matter, which is what the forum is for.

As far as a Spouse Settlement visa is concerned, your husband is unlikely to be free to leave Egypt if he's skipped the compulsory conscription

Please don't send me PMs asking for immigration advice on posts that are on the open forum. If I haven't responded there, it's because I don't have the answer. I'm a moderator, not a legal professional.
