Medical insurance

Post by stature » Sat Jun 30, 2018 9:25 am

Hi! I am considering moving to UK, London specifically. I hold EU citizenship (Romanian). My source of income is freelancing and I would like to continue it in the UK, expanding my business. What happens with the medical insurance? I hold no previous record of medical insurance within the EU.

I checked this matter in Germany and it's pretty costly there, unless you are employed. What happens in the UK?

Thank you!

The UK doesn't have the concept of medical insurance like Germany.
First apply for a National Insurance Number (search gov.uk website for details). If you are exercising treaty rights, i.e. work you will be subject to tax and National Insurance contributions and you will be able to use the National Health Service.
