UK Business Owner - Investment Advice

Post by lincoln2018 » Wed Oct 03, 2018 10:34 am

Morning Everyone,

I run a successful business in the UK. I have been looking at investment options and have been in contact with a broker in the UK who has mentioned about foreign investment where the investor becomes a director of the company etc etc. So I've been doing some research into this.

Does anyone have any advice / experience on this, someone that has invested into an existing UK company. We're looking to seek £400 - £500k across two investors.

Many thanks,

Lee.

It sounds like the broker is trying to use this as a means for someone to come in as a Tier 1 Entrepreneur - something that would be considered fraudulent.
My comments are in no way meant to be advisory. I have no professional knowledge of immigration. These are based on my own experience, convictions and personal interpretation of publicly available information.

Ok thanks. So you basically a UK business can't 'pitch' itself for foreign investment via the Tier / Entrepreneur channels?

i.e Is it ok or not, for a UK business to take on a 'stranger' as a director / investor? Even if they work for that company for 5 years?

I am not sure if a UK business is prevented from pitching fro Tier 1 Entrepreneurs - I can't see why they should.

However, the T1E route is for entrepreneurs, not investors. There is a separate Tier 1 investor visa for people who just want to invest.

I am not a lawyer, but I know of nothing that would make it not ok.
