Getting job with HSMP sitting in India !!!! is it possible

Post by itsme » Sun Mar 13, 2005 2:54 pm

Hello Everybody,
I am IT professional with good exp. in UNIX Sys Admin field.
I have a very generic question. AFter getting HSMP visa is it possible to get a job sitting in India !!! if not after landing in UK how much time it takes in general to get a job ? (with your past experiences)
What are the possibilites ? Because its tough to decide leaving present good paying job and leave for UK for which no guarantee is there ?
Also after geting HSMPO within how many months we need to leave for UK ?
Please share your valuable comments.
Any comment is extremely useful for me.

Rgds,
itsme.

I don't know about India, but I have found that finding a job without being physically present is difficult in any country. I have had some telephone interviews, but they want to meet me in person prior to making an offer, for obvious and understandable reasons.
HSMP is inherently a risk - all of us will be leaving good jobs, families, homes, friends, to take a chance in a new country in which nothing is guaranteed. This is why they ask if you are willing to make the UK your main home and whether you have sufficient funds available to support yourself until you find work.
Have you considered taking a leave of absence from your current job and going over to look for work once you get your EC? If your employer is willing to let you do this, it will keep a job for you there in case you cannot find anything in the UK.

Hi itsme,

I guess Lynn is right. It is indeed very difficult to get a job from other country. But I wont rule out the possibility also. I got a job in UK from India but it took me good 4 months. But may be that was because I didnt have HSMP and I had to be sponsored. But when you register with consultants they will not give much importance to your application until and unless your resume is very good. I would suggest you should register with www.jobserve.com and www.cwjobs.co.uk.

But in the end its your call. This move may work or may not work.

Best of Luck.
