Biometric residence permit name change

Hi there,

Does anyone know if you can travel internationally if the name on your biometric residence permit is different to that on your passport? I recently received ILR and a biometric residence permit after completing the five years qualifying period in the UK on an ancestry visa. My Australian passport is up for renewal and I was hoping to finally change my name on the passport from my maiden to married name. I am travelling to Sydney in April 2018 and I don't think there will be time to change the passport AND the biometric residence permit so wondered if I could travel with the documents in different names? Any advice would be appreciated!

You should be able to do that but better to have your marriage certificate with you too when coming back
