WHERE TO POST THE HSMP INITIAL APPLICATIONS

Post by khubs » Sat Jun 07, 2008 6:13 pm

Hi everyone,

I am a student in the UK and I plan to apply for HSMP soon. I meet all the requirements for the hsmp study provision.
My question is where do i need to post my initial application? Do I go back to my home country India and then post it to the vfs there along with my passport or should i post it to the HO, Sheffield sitting here in London????

I am very very confused and would like to know what exactly do I need to do?

Pls. advise.

Thanks in advance

Regards,
Khubs :D

HSMP, infact the entire immigration process has been revamped.... read the info pointed to you by hussainkothari.

You now need to apply for Tier-1 (General).
Which study provision are you talking about?

Hi khubs,

Just tried again and this site works perfect. HSMP is no more in UK and India. You would have to apply for Tier1 now. Please read thru the link. It has all the information that you are asking for.

Oh ok. Its very confusing to use HSMP & Tier 1 (General) interchangeably. Well as far as posting your application is concerned, you need to send it to :

(& this comes directly from the first page of the application form):

If you apply by post , you must send your appl ication to the fol lowing
address:
Border and Immigration Agency
Tier 1 (General )
P.O. Box 496
Mil lburngate House
Durham
DH99 1WQ

( & this comes from the BIA website) If you would like to send your application by courier, you should send it to:

UK Border Agency
Tier 1 (General)
Millburngate House
Durham
DH99 1SA

Given the fact that you have not yet found out this information and are looking for the postal address, I am a bit sceptical about your application itself. I might be wrong but it seems that you have not read the guidance properly. Please do so as the rejection rate seems quite high.

Hi khubs,

It is not a good idea to publish your personal mail ids on public forums. If you could please edit your message to remove it. I have sent the relevant pdfs over to you by mail.

In case you want to share your mail address, please send a private message to a particular user.

Thanks hussainkothari for your mail and suggestion.
I have been reading tier1 guidance for quite some time but have seen the application for the first time. Thanks for providing!

some clarifications:
1. so am required to finally send my documents to address(Durham) mentioned there rite?
2. can I APPLY while i am in London ? and once i get my approval then will i need to go back to Indian and apply for entry clearance through VFS?
Also, do i need to submit my passport in the first go or only during entry clearance?

Thanks again

Yes.

Khubs, take some time to read the notes and browse the forum for the answers. All of these have been answered earlier or are already there on the BIA website.
Tier1 is a one shot process in which you send your docs and passports for verification and EC, unlike the HSMP. So you need to submit your passport and everything would happen in one go.

As you are in UK on a student visa you can apply from UK itself and you dont need to go back to India to get the EC (which is a part of the Tier-1 approval process as explained already)

ALSO, as part of my maintenance funds how many I exactly need to show ?
and
DO these savings have to be in my UK bank or Indian bank because, all my documents are with reference to India.

Thanks

tier1genpolicyguide.pdf -

190. In order to qualify for leave to remain under Tier 1 an applicant must demonstrate that they have sufficient funds of at least £800 personal savings to support themselves.
192, 3. • that the funds of £800 have been in the bank for at least 3 months and the balance must always have been at least £800.

Page 1-
However, there is a Transitional arrangements for maintenance (funds)
Up to 29 June 2008, you do not have to show you have had the funds for at least three months before your application. You must only show you have the required funds at the time you apply. The types of documents you need to send to support your application are detailed on p21 of this document. Until 29 June 2008, they do not need to cover the three-month period, but they must be dated no more than a month before your application.

It doesn't matter if it is a Indian / Uk bank account. The account should be in the name of the applicant.

Please note for every dependant, 1600 GBP should be shown towards maintainance funds.
