Urgent Question regarding English language qualification for British Citizenship application

Post by MrHud » Wed Jan 23, 2019 8:30 pm

Hi All,

Two days ago I have received an email from the home office regarding my application and in the email is stated that

" Evidence that you satisfy the knowledge of English language and life in the UK requirement. You must provide BOTH an acceptable English language qualification AND a life in the UK test pass notification letter, as explained in the enclosed annex, in order to meet this requirement. You have not provided an acceptable English language qualification, as your ESOL certificate was issued more than two years prior to your date of application. Please refer to the following website: https://www.gov.uk/english-language/app ... ifications and to the bottom of this email for further details.. "

I clicked on the link provided and it says on the section If your qualification has run out Some recognized test qualifications only last for 2 years. You can still use a B1 level qualification that you took more than 2 years ago in 2 situations. Applying for citizenship You can use a B1 level qualification that’s run out if you’re applying for citizenship and it was accepted when you settled in the UK. It does not matter if the B1 level test you took is not on the current list of recognized tests. You do not need to take another test.

In my case at the moment when I applied for the settlement in the UK I used the English language qualification B1 CEFR and I got granted the settlement in the UK with that qualification, which means as it stated in the Gov website I can use a B1 CEFR level qualification that’s run out if I'm currently applying for citizenship and it was accepted when you settled in the UK. meaning I do not need to take another test.

I have emailed them back with exactly what I wrote above and also sent a letter with the original qualification to them.

Can anyone advise me what do I do as I have a deadline that all evidence needs to be submitted by 5/2/2019

Thank you All
