EU nationals 12 Months Waiting Period - Permanent Residence & Settled Status

Post by xxckxx » Tue Feb 12, 2019 9:33 pm

Hi everyone!

I'm a little confused as to what the requirements for naturalisation will be once the Settled Scheme for EU passport holders rolls out.

I've lived in the UK for around 7 years. I've done my GCSEs, A-levels and I'm currently in my final year at university. I'm a Bulgarian national.

I have a Permanent Residence Card (PRC) issued in April 2018, which means I can apply for naturalisation in April, 2019 (after the 12 month waiting period). I'm aware the Permanent Residence Cards will have to be replaced by a "Settled Status" card/certificate, but according to GOV.UK, there is still a 12 month waiting period before you can apply for citizenship. I'd be most grateful if any of you know can share anything that you may know...

- Since I've had my PRC for a year, will I have to wait another year if I were to get a Settled Status?
- Can I apply for naturalisation in April with my PRC and avoid going through the Settled Status path?

Thank you!

- Can I apply for naturalisation in April with my PRC and avoid going through the Settled Status path? YES

Thank you!
