Child British Citizenship Application

Post by nvendi » Wed Mar 06, 2019 1:56 pm

Hi,

I am naturalised British citizen and my son is a Indian citizen and possess ILR since 2015. And now I wanted to apply British citizenship for my son.

Do I need apply via naturalisation or register British citizen? – I am bit confused about which method should I be using for my son.

And also wondering, do I need to submit original Indian passport while applying the application.

Thanks for your help.

Thanks
Naren

As you don't state how old your son is, note that Naturalisation applies to ADULTS 18 and over. Registration applies to children, under 18.

No originals to be sent if you apply using the new UKCVAS service.

Thanks for your reply.

My son is 10 years old.

UKVCAS - Is this similar to NCS? - I learned that HO stopped using NCS Services.

Thanks

Registration on form MN1

Similar yes but not exactly the same. See link below. Note also that there is no longer an option to apply for the passport simultaneously as you could with NCS.

indefinite-leave-to-remain/online-appli ... 70084.html

indefinite-leave-to-remain/new-uk-visa- ... 67058.html

Why did you not applied for him sooner or when you applied??

Thanks for your response.

I am now filling MN1 online application for my 10 year old son.

https://www.gov.uk/government/publicati ... e-form-mn1

For children born outside UK - We are supposed to select Category. Any idea, which category should need to select in this scenario?

1. Your parent is British by descent and lived in the UK or a British Overseas territory for at least 3 years before you were born
2. Your parent is British by descent and you and your parents (unless they are legally separated) are now living in the UK or a British Overseas territory
3. You were born on or after 13 January 2010 and your parent was serving in the UK armed forces
4. You were adopted abroad by British citizen parents
5. You were born before 1 July 2006 to a British father and your parents were not married
6. One or both of your parents is applying for British citizenship
7. Other - apply at the discretion of the Home Secretary

Thanks

It looks like - Other - apply at the discretion of the Home Secretary

Because all other options don't match with my case.
