New serice - how do I know that there are free spaces available ?

I want to use the new service but the visa site is telling me to pay for the booking before I know that there are available slots, the visa must be done next week. Anyone had problems getting appointments for 1-5 days notice?

Just been thinking overnight once you submitted the application online without the documents does that still mean the application is submitted so I do not need to worry about the visa end date. If this is the case how long have to got to submit the documents at one of the new centers. Or the application is not fully submitted until or documents have been included ?.
