Registration of a child of a British citizen other by decent - New online forms

Post by adinaedri » Wed Apr 24, 2019 2:08 pm

Hello

I started filling in the online forms to registare my son (6 years old, born outside of the UK, I am a British citizen other by decent, we have lived in the UK for more then 3 years).

I remember that in the former forms, there were sections 3(2) and 3(5).

Are these now scrapped from the form? Could it be that I am filling the wrong form?

Thank you

I am a British citizen other by decent,
If you are British other than by decent and were such BEFORE the child was born, then the child can inherit citizenship. Perhaps you mean you are British by Decent (not other than by decent)? Your previous topic from 2015 when you asked the same questions suggests by decent.

british-citizenship/mn1-section-3-2-fee ... l#p1247150
I remember that in the former forms, there were sections 3(2) and 3(5).
They are still relevant as they are written into the British Nationality Legislation. Nothing has changed.
Are these now scrapped from the form? Could it be that I am filling the wrong form?
Which form are you looking at, your post is unclear?? If MN1, you select the route or input the section you are applying for. Note that we do not have sight of the online forms and options.

CR001 you are correct of course, thank you!

I was born outside of the UK to a British parent who was born in the UK. So my citizenshipis 'by decent'. I find the termiology confusing.

Basically, the online forms do not contain the 3.2 & 3.5 sections.

I better go and have another look at the paper ones.

Thank you again.

What are the options you are given to select the route to apply for the child. It should be a list or a drop down menu and if you can list what it says, then members can offer advice.

There were none, which makes me think that I looked at the wrong form.
I have now downloaded the paper one and will work with it.
