Change of Status from Visitor.

Hello Everybody,

Please advise me. My husband is on student visa in UK since 2001. his visa will be expried in another 4 months. He is planning to extend it anyways. (also trying to change to work permit if possible).
I am Green card holder from USA. I have a visit visa to UK . I have visited him, three times in last one and half years . My visit visa will be till May 2005. We got married in Scotland in Feb 2005 .I am back in USA now.
My question is Can I go to UK again on my visit visa and try to change my visa status from visitor to dependent by applying to Home Office.
As I am not sure if I can get a dependent visa applying at British Consulate in USA .
The reason I want to go to UK is, as a green card holder spouse my husband cannot come to USA immediatly, the process will take around 3yrs. H1 to USA didn't work. This is the last option for us to be together.

i dont think you will be able to change from visitors visa to dependent, i believe you can only do this in your country of normal residence or your home country, again another thing is that your husband being on a student visa might mean theere will be restriction for him should he wish to change to a work permit, Is he graduating from a UK institution?

Thanks for your reply. He already did his Masters from UK institution and is enrolled for Phd.
In general how difficult is it to get student dependent visa.
