Address change once already in the UK.

Post by jamesa380 » Mon Aug 12, 2019 8:12 am

Hi all,

My wife has already been granted the first 2.5 years spouse visa with a BRP about 2 years ago now. when we initially applied we were living at my father's address and since then we have bought our own house I moved out of the original application address.

when I try to find out more information about changing the address we called several numbers for the home office and border force. Each person we spoke to didn't really have a clear answer. the home office only want to know about change of addresses if your application was still in progress and since it was already granted they did not want to take the information.

https://visa-address-update.service.gov.uk/

We submitted a change of address to the above link but have not received any confirmation of this and this was about 1 year ago. Does anybody know the actual formal process if we need to submit a change of address?

We will be reapplying for the next 2.5 years in January 2020 and I'm a little concerned if they haven't received this change of address, when they see the new address on the application compared to the first application there may be grounds for refusal?

Thanks. James

There is no requirement for a spouse visa holder to inform ho when they change address or move.

Good afternoon and Merry Christmas!

Looking for a little clarification regarding proof of suitable accommodation for a spouse visa extension application coming up in mid January.

Since successfully applying for the first 2.5 years I have since brought a house myself and we have lived in this for 2 years. The house is just in my name as it was very difficult to find a lender that would include my wife without indefinite leave to remain.

I have mortgage statements for the last 2 years showing payments and I already have the deeds for the house in my name.

Would I need a letter stating the size and how many bedrooms in the house? It's a one bedroom detached house and only two of us living here.

I prepared these documents for the first application but they didn't take them at the document scanning. The only took signed letter from the home owner stating the size of the house

Hope you can help.
Kind regards,
James

No letter needed.

Just the docs evidencing ownership of the property.
