I created a detail of Citizenship Online application and would like to ask about UKVCAS

I'm trying to understand the next step (currently applied for EU settlement status)

two referees - I couldn't find it in the AN form. even though the form says

For further information on residence requirements, eligibility, referees and the evidence we require, read the guidance notes and requirements booklet.

I'm a bit confused here.

Recap of what I already have:
- EU passport
- Lived and worked in the UK 5 years
- British spouse
- Passed Life in the UK
- Passed B1 English exam

What I don't understand:
1. Two referees
2. UKVCAS / BRP - both the same?

2 referees are for citizenship not for settlement.

I will read all the document you've mentioned. the question is, how should I guess that it's part of my process?

I went step by step as per the guide of what is follow after settlement + British spouse and got the contradiction I mentioned.
Now I'm quite worried that there are some more information that I might need and it's mentioned on some other document...


What happens if I don't find a referee? I have potentially two, but I guess at least one of them won't agree to provide his passport number... then what I suppose to do?

If you don't have 2 referees and complete the relevant pages, you cannot apply and your application will be refused or rejected. All citizenship applications, even for children, require 2 referees.

Not sure what contradiction you are referring to at all, your post isn't clear on what it is exactly!

how do I get this? it's the BRP? (URL: https://www.gov.uk/biometric-residence-permits)
it's also says: "You do not have to pay the charge if you are applying to the EU Settlement Scheme."
not sure what exactly I won't need to pay for £19.20 bio metric information or appointment fee £60

Why do you need a solicitor??? It is a simple form that has to be completed and the referees MUST both know for at least 3 years.

It is the appointment at UKCVAS centre to enroll your biometrics and digital photo taking.

You are asking in THIS topic about applying for citizenship and NOT about the EU settlement scheme. Do not confuse the two, they are different. For citizenship, none of the free services you get under the EEA/EU Settlement scheme apply. For citizenship, you have to pay to do your biometrics and pay to get a UKCVAS appointment if there are no free ones available.

there is a list of professionals who can be referee, I just gave an example solicitor.

and CR001 you're right it was my misunderstanding since they mixed it in the same page of the citizenship application.

Proof of living in the UK: If you are an EEA National, you need to include letters from employers, educational establishments or other government departments, indicating your presence in the UK during the relevant 3- or 5-year period. Bank statements or household bills are not suitable proof you have been living in the UK.

since I have no stamps on my passport (EEA) can I provide P60 for each year?
council tax is ok? (it's not a utility bill..)

Citizenship online application require documents as per below:
Proof of nationality: must provide all:

• Passport -- current applicant passport

• PR / EU Settelment certificate

• Evidence of freedom -- which is EU Settelment certificate

• Certificate of the Life in the UK Test

• B1 English qualification or higher

• Proof of living in the UK -- this can be P60

• Your marriage or civil partnership certificate -- marriage certificate and partner passport

• Two referee declarations -- Follow up with the referee declaration document

• evidence of identity -- Passport

Additional process
UKVCAS biometric information for taking photos, finger print and necessary to validate all the documents above (if I understand correctly)

Hi all,

I'm trying to prepare as much as I can before I apply to the citizenship since I know there is limited time for submission so I want to be ready in advance. my questions are below and I wrote this in detail to try and help others when they search for help.

As far as I understand, the process divided into two parts Filing the form and the book an appointment at UKVCAS all as per detailed below:

1. Filing an online form: https://visas-immigration.service.gov.u ... onality-an

• (1.1)Application - This is where I need to provide data about myself and my British spouse (in my case)
  ** No need to mention trips for 2 days or less. only when the trip is for example Monday-Wednesday (1 day absence from UK - please correct me if I'm wrong)
  Actions to take:
  • Provide information only

• (1.2)Documents - Just need to tick the checkbox of what documents I have.
  Documents needed:
  • Proof of nationality (passport)
  • Life in the UK
  • English B1 certificate
  • Proof of living in UK (Council tax)
  • Proof of being in the UK legally for 3 years (EU settelment) this is instead of PR/ILR
  • marriage certificate (include spouse passport - scan every page)
  • Two referee declarations (need to print hard copy and ask referees to sign)
  • Evidence of ID (Passport/Driving licence)
  • Proof of British citizenship for spouse (spouse Passport)
  Actions to take:
  • Tick the checkbox only

• (1.3)Referee decleration - Just need to tick the checkbox if I have referees.

The after, I will be needed to book an appointment for biometric and validate ALL document from above.

So here are my questions:
Questions for 1.2
- Do I need to scan and upload all MY passport as well and upload it?
- Do I need to print referee declaration, ask them to sign and then bring it with me to the UKVCAS appointment?
Question for 1.5
- What's in further actions? is this is where they would ask me to book an appointment with UKVCAS?
Question for step 2
- Do I need to print EVERYTHING (even passport pages) and take it with me to the appointment + original hard copy of everything?
- Do I need to take 2 photos with me? (600x750 pixels passport photos)
- This is where hopefully the process ends?
