Declaration for 2 year old

Hi,

I am applying for my son's citizenship online.

There is a declaration that says:

- I am the applicant

- I am a representative of the applicant and have been authorised to act on their behalf and have discussed and confirmed the contents of this application with them.

Which one should I select?

Secondly, I have referee letters signed but dated two months ago, are they valid?
