Naturalisation application question- American degree /NARIC

Post by champ1234 » Mon Aug 12, 2019 5:50 pm

Hi there-
I am an American citizen applying for my naturalisation after having my permanent residency since 2009. I have lived in the UK as a spouse of an Irish Citizen since 2004. On my application form it has asked for:

NARIC letter that confirms the qualification
meets or exceeds the recognised standard of a
Bachelor's or Masters degree or PhD in the UK

Why do I need this as an American citizen I am exempt from the English Language requirement?
Could anyone shed some light as when I apply on the NARIC site it says I do not need it.
Thank you in advance.

You don't need and must tick NO to the degree and English test question.

Correct yes. The question in the form is only relevant to meeting the English requirement. Other than that HO don't care what your qualifications are.

Hello,
I wanted to extend the ILR language question above. As an American exempt from the language requirement, if I say 'no' to having a degree then there are the following questions as to why I haven't taken a language test.

-Do you have a degree that was taught in English? [No]

-Have you passed an approved English language test? [No]

-Are you claiming an exemption from the English language test due to a medical or mental condition? [No]

-Do you have exceptional compassionate circumstances that prevent you from taking the test? [No]

Have I done something incorrectly in my application to trigger these follow up questions or is this typical?

It's normal.
