Delayed Issue of UK Residence Cards -Petition to Parliament

Post by Plum70 » Mon Aug 11, 2008 11:38 am

Hello All,

I just wanted to let you know that a few of us have been working on a joint petition to European Parliament to address the issues of non compliance with the EU Directive with respect to the delayed issuance of Certificate of Approvals and UK Residence Cards (to non EEA family members of qualified EU Citizens) by the UKBA. We are particularly focusing on:

1. CoAs not being issued "immediately" as stipulated in the EU directive
2. Residence card applications for non EEA Family Members of qualified citizens taking longer than 6 months to be decided by the UKBA
3. Residence cards for extended family members of qualified citizens taking an arbitrary period of time (usually well over 6 months) to be decided by the UKBA
4. Also we are highlighting the non-specific wording of the CoA relative to the applicant's actual legal status/situation (we feel that the general wording of the CoA makes it even more difficult for family members to prove their rights to reside and work in the UK while their applications for residence cards are being considered)

We need to gather enough signatures and evidence before presenting the petition before The European Parliament.

Please join us in ensuring that these matters of non-compliance that have disrupted our lives and caused us undue worry and frustration are actively addressed and reversed.

Here is the link to the petition http://www.ipetitions.com/petition/UKRe ... EEAfamilym Please pass this on to friends and family also affected. Your contribution and support cannot be overemphasized!

You can also follow this topic in another thread which I am leading. Please follow this link: http://www.ukresident.com/forums/index. ... opic=70485

Also please feel free to PM me should you have any questions or comments. I look forward to hearing from you.

Cheers,

Chinye

To all those who viewed this petition, signed it and some detail of their case, I want to say thank you. The response so far has been positive and I encourage others who can relate to these issues to sign on as well!

For anyone who is willing to further support this by sharing their case, please contact me (via PM) on this forum. I would prefer that you do not post personal details (other than your signtaure) on the petition site for confidentiality purposes.

The petition signing is well under way and one is encouraged by those who have actively shown their support. Please keep signing and passing it on to anyone you know affected by the issues raised!

Come the September the petition and supporting case file will be lodged with the European Parliament and hopefully would be deemed admissible.

I will keep you posted.

Cheers,

Chinye
