I'm not sure I understand the timelines everyone is posting here. For example, if I understand the process correctly, then we have submit our application online first and then book the appointment to take all documents with us. I'm struggling to find any appointments unless I go to Bradford in the next week or so. Does the clock start ticking from the appointment?
I'm really worried because I'm looking to apply fresh OCI for myself (Indian born), my husband (UK born) and my daughter (minor). If we do go to Bradford for the appointment, will all of us receive our OCI cards at the same time? We're also looking to travel on 15th October, so hopefully its all in time
Thanks in advance for your response!!
1. yes, you have to submit the application online and upload all the documents as well.... but you can book an appointment before that (unlike submitting the Indian passport) as no reference number of your application is needed for booking OCI appointment.
2. Not sure what you mean by the clock start ticking from the appointment. if you mean does the processing time start after your visit, then yes, that's when the clock starts, the online submission is not the start time.
3. I think you would get it at the same time (based on my exp, we received both OCI (me and my wife) on the same day), you might get it before15th OCT (we applied 28th June and got it today, its roughly 30-45 days)
4. I don't have experience with this but there is no requirement to take the minor along as I meet one person who came in to apply for his newborn and complaining about having to take her fingerprint with ink.
Make sure you are careful with filling the application form (spellings as per the documents that you are submitting), else they make you refill it and you have to go out of VFS (as per our exp in Bradford) office to do so.
Carry Laptop with you in case they make you refill the application.
You need two photographs per application (the official site says 1)
Good luck
