Woolas Comments USA & Reciprocity to UK

Post by 1963British » Sat Oct 18, 2008 1:00 pm

I just read today that the new immigration minister says, "there would be a sharp reduction in the number of foreigners allowed to stay in the country."

I am a dual national (UK/US) who is extremely active in US politics and if this action is taken in the UK that there will be reciprocity when the US addresses this issue in the new year if no concessions are granted with the US.

If you are a British Citizen or someone with British children, you should write your MP on this issue if you want to be able to avail yourself of US immigration options.

The number of migrants from the US to UK is tiny compared to the other way and this is action that is penny wise pound foolish.

This is nonsense, with respect.

The United States does not require "reciprocity" in this context and British immigration laws under Labour have been significantly less restrictive than in the United States.
