FLR (M) & New Job Offer

Post by AlexBH » Mon Feb 21, 2022 9:59 pm

Hi there,

I applied for my first unmarried partner visa (switching from a Tier 2 skilled worker visa) on January 6th 2022 and had my biometrics on the 27th of January. I am still awaiting an outcome for my visa and nearing the 8 week processing time. I am getting increasingly anxious about this, as many people have gotten their approval in 3-7 working days (based on Facebook group timelines I see posted).

I have been offered a new job with a new employer for almost the exact same income. Am I able to begin working in this new job before my new visa is approved? Or, can I only continue to work in this interim period in my current job? I have told my potential new employer that I am awaiting this visa to be processed.

Thank you in advance for any advice.

You can only work for your tier 2 sponsor while your application for another visa category is pending. Your existing tier 2 visa conditions continue until another visa is granted.

You can work for anyone else once your new visa and BRP card has been approved and issued.

Ok, thank you so much for your prompt response!

Do you think if I have not had a response from UKVI about my new visa application I should phone them to chase it up?
Thank you.

Sorry, last question - could my potential new employer phone up UK visas and immigration for a status update? Thank you.

GDPR would prevent UKVI from discussing anything with anyone other than yourself.

Also bear in mind that the UKVI call centre is outsourced to a third party agent who don't have access to everything a caseworker has.
