Life in the UK Certificate needed?

Post by Sreeni83 » Sun Oct 16, 2022 9:24 pm

Dear All,

I applied for my Naturalisation on 4th September (submitted on IDV, paid 26th Aug).

Within the checklist of documents, they didnt ask for Life in the UK ceritificate, so I didnt upload this to the IDV app. Going through this forum and talking to other people, I gather Life in the UK ceritificate is important to make decision. I did provide the Certificate number, as they asked for this on the application. Below is what they asked me, I am worried now if this will cause further delays. I checked on the IDV App, but there is no option to upload the documents now.

1. The passport issued
2. Proof of living in the UK
3. Your marriage or civil partnership certificate
4. The degree certificate to prove the level of English language required
5. Two referee declarations
6. One proof of British citizenship for spouse (Applied 3 year route as spouse of British citizen)
7. Current Biometric Residence Permit

Please advise/help if anyone has been in this situation.

Much appreciated.

Many thanks

Kind regards,
Sreeni

Did you receive an online reference number after you did the test? If so, the reference number is all they need. If you also have a certificate, you can email it to UKVI and explain what happened.

Thank you so much contorted_svy for the reply.

I took the test in 2018, so wasnt an online version. I had to go to a test centre and they gave me a printed Pass certificate after exam. I had provided this for my ILR in April 2018

Whats the best email to use? You reckon I should withdraw my application and resubmit to avoid delays?

You gave biometrics, so if you withdrew your application now you'd lose the fee. You can try contacting the following email addresses:
furthernationalityenquiries@homeoffice.gsi.gov.uk NationalityEnquiries@homeoffice.gov.uk citizenship.Support@homeoffice.gov.uk NationalitySupportTeamFMT@homeoffice.gov.uk

Quote the UAN and explain that you forgot to enclose the certificate.

okay understood. I will email them now to see if they can tag my Life in the UK.

Do you know if anyone has experienced delays due to missing documents?

Once again really appreciate and really thankful for your quick response.

Timelines are slow at the moment, so it's hard to gauge what may induce delays. Hopefully you get a response from them that they included the certificate with the rest of your documents.

I think we are in the same boat with my wife's application.

We submitted via the app last week and her document check list asked her to provide a certificate proving English language at B1 level, which we uploaded, but there was nothing on the checklist asking her to upload anything in relation to her Life in the UK test.

On the actual online application form itself, there was a section which asked her to enter the Life in the UK test unique reference number - which I think is the 7 digit 'Test Instance ID' number on the pass notification letter. We entered this and I'm hopeful that is all they will need.

She provided her Life in the UK Pass Letter as part of her ILR application in 2019, so I presume they will have it already. Also, if they still required for it to be uploaded in this application, surely it would have come up on the document checklist?

Not sure now whether to go down your route and send them an email, or maybe just hang tight and wait for the case worker to get in touch if it is indeed required.

LITUK test results are uploaded to the Home Office by test centres on a regular basis, so they will have your test number and result. But can't do any harm to include the pass letter.
This is just my opinion as a member of this forum and does not constitute immigration advice.

Khussain- I followed the advice given here. I think reading through the list UKVI it is not needed given the new technology etc with IDV app. But it is better to send them into the emails mentioned by one of the experts here.

Sad part is, on the day of submission, I thought of uploading the Lifei n the UK which would have taken me a minute, but sadly I didnt. :(

Good luck with your wife's application, hope both ours go through okay.

Take care

Khussain - Yes its a great idea to send them in, atleast all bases will be covered.

Thank you so much, Yes will keep you all posted, so far only received automatic emails following LIU certificate submission confirming receipt.

I notice and gather the naturlisation approvals have slowed down since last week, so fingers crossed.

All the best again

Take care

contorted_svy - Yes I agree. I only noticed it when you mentioned the other day.

I havent been on the watch till last week, only when my Mrs asked have you uploaded LIU, then i reliased. I'm keeping an eye on email literally every 30 minutes, but it looks like it is going to be on the back burner for a whilst. Ahh the wait is too much I tell you.

I can understand all too well. I'm due to apply next year and I am already impatient. But with good record keeping, and the support of members of this board, we will have a higher chance of success.
