Splitting my name in the indian passport

My name in the indian passport is with my fullname in the given name field, as follows:
Given name: I S
Surname: (blank)
I would lik to change to
Given name: I Surname: S.

Is it possible to do it by applying for fresh passport and changing the fields for name and surname?
?Or do I need to go through the change of name process (deed poll, 3 newspaper ads, etc etc)?

Please advise Please try Miscellaneous service to correct the error, I would consider this has an error not name change
