Mother born in Canada. Can I apply for citizenship?

Post by Roustiere » Sun Dec 08, 2024 5:10 pm

Hi,

My mother was born in Quebec in 1965 and didn’t live there very long as her family moved back to Ireland. I’m wondering do I qualify for citizenship through descent?

I had tried looking this up some time ago but got a little confused as Quebec seems to act a little differently to the other provinces so it may not be as straight forward. Although maybe I may be misremembering.

I have my mums Quebec birth certificate and this has a registration number of birth if that helps.

Am I a Canadian Try using this first.

To find out for sure, apply for a citizenship certificate.
