Hi everyone,
Asking for a friend.
One of my friends is on a Tier 2 visa and works as a store manager at an English café. His employer applied for a sponsorship licence and offered him a work permit. He has been on a Tier 2 visa for the past two years.
He is employed as a store manager at a well-known English café in Lancashire. Due to his prior experience and strong work ethic, the management decided to offer him a work permit. It is worth noting that he is the only employee at that café on a work permit.
His salary, payslips, and tax records all appear to be in order and in line with the SOC salary requirements.
Entry clearance experience
When he first arrived in the UK two years ago, airport authorities questioned him extensively, asking whether his role qualified as skilled work. However, after conducting a few checks, they allowed him entry.
Current travel plan
Now, he plans to travel to India for two weeks but is concerned about potential immigration checks upon his return. He will be carrying all necessary paperwork, including payslips and an employer’s letter. Would you recommend carrying any additional documents?
As far as I understand, the sponsorship licence was issued after meeting all the necessary requirements at the time of application. However, can immigration officials still question whether his role qualifies as skilled work at the airport?
I would be really grateful if someone could respond please.
Many thanks,
