Naturalisation Stuck at Garda Vetting

Post by dublinmtb » Fri Mar 21, 2025 4:54 pm

Hi everyone,

I applied for my naturalisation at the end of May, 2024.
Garda Vetting (Disclosure Viewed): in the beginning of December, 2024.

My portal shows Garda Vetting Initiated in the Detailed Status with last update at the end of November 2024.

Many people who applied even 5 months after I did, got their approvals and I feel there might be something wrong with my application. No additional documents were asked. I also don't have any criminal convictions. When I raised a query in the portal they told me it's still in processing. But there's no progress whatsoever.

Is there anyone in a similar situation? Or any idea what might have delayed my application?

There's no straightforward asnwer as to "why is my application delayed".

I waited for 2 years until my application was approved, for example.
Send them a query from time to time and see how it goes. If you pass the 19 month threshold, you can see if you want to go IE JR route, but you're a long way off from that.

not sure why but you seem to have a second e-vetting request as you posted in the timeline tracker? is this a mistake ? if not, i would say you will need to wait the usual time

I don't really know. No reason was stated. I just received the e-vetting link again and my solicitor told me to go through it. I hope it works this time.

Hello, any updates on this? Many people who applied even 2 months after me are getting their intention to grant, and I haven't received anything else after my vetting disclosure was viewed.

I'm not sure what to do. I'm basically inside the ''normal'' estimated waiting times, but I can't understand why so many people who applied at the same time I did and months after is already on their way to the ceremony, and I'm still waiting.

I don't want to end up being one of those cases that have to wait for years.

Sorry to see that you are also going through something similar. I received my payment letter in June and waiting for ceremony invite now. If your disclosure has been viewed and your status on the portal still shows Garda Vetting Initiated, then maybe you can try to contact a solicitor and see your options. If it's been viewed and your application status is Application In Progress then things are moving further and there may not be much you can do at that point.
