How long to wait before apply for Malta Temp residency

I was wondering how long before you can apply for Temporary residency in Malta , I'm an Irish citizen and thinking about moving to Malta . I know you have to apply after being there for 3 months but was wondering can you get the ball moving straight away ?
Also I guess there are more pros than cons getting the residency or better to wait 3 months .

Hi,

You don't need to wait for 3 months. You can register with the Identità as soon as possible if you have a reason for long term residence. They can be slow so you don't have to delay.
Use either;
Employment - Form A
Self sufficient - Form J
Student - Form M

After your application is processed you will receive an E-residence document.
