British citizenship for my daughter

Post by play33 » Fri Nov 07, 2025 2:07 pm

Hello everybody,

I need some help for apply for my daughter British Citizenship.

She born in Brazil on 2018 and I get my ILR on 2019 4 months later. This year I get my British Citizenship through a Solicitor which charge me a lot of money. But she made a lot of mistakes on the application and I have to check everything before submit.

My question is.

My daughter have ILR in the UK and was living here for more than 5 years. She have autism and had a procedure surgery in the head in Oxford. She goes to a special school and have a lot of appointments during the year. I want to make all her papers because we never know what can happen in the future.

I went to apply all together in the beginning of the year but solicitor told she couldn't as she didn't had 5 years living here. Now she have.

Do I need a Solicitor or I can make it myself? She want to charge me the double which cost to me saying her case is complicate? Another solicitor told is pretty easy as she living here for a long time and have ILR.

Who I can trust.

Anybody have similar situation which can clear my ideas?

Thanks.

What is the UK immigration status of the second parent? Was her ILR application based on you sole responsibility for her?

My wife is Spanish and have ILR. And ILR is for time residing in the UK. She was granted on the Brexit. My daughter have 6 years old.

You don't need a solicitor. Your daughter can apply with you when you apply for citizenship (if you haven't applied yet). Solicitors are in the business of making money, and sometimes they may advise you need them even when the application can be done without paying a professional.

I already have Citizenship. I applied with a solicitor and get in the beginning of this year. At the time of application she told me I should apply for me first and after my daughter.

But now for my daughter is the double of the price - £2000 as she said is more complicated as I get my citizenship after her bithrday.

But the mother have ILR from 2019 and my daughter from 2022.

I already have a teacher and another person for referee.

I think will be easier than me the case.

What are you opinion about this?

Thanks

You can absolutely submit an application for your daughter without the help of a solicitor. Start to review the guidance and ask here any questions you have.
