Advice on travelling to India with UK-born baby (Indian passport)

Post by MS_Ioc_India » Sat Nov 08, 2025 10:30 am

Hello everyone,

I would appreciate some guidance on my situation.

My daughter was born in the UK and is currently 4 months old.

She is expected to receive her Indian passport in the next few days.

Both parents are Indian nationals currently in the UK on valid visas.

I will be eligible to apply for Indefinite Leave to Remain (ILR) in February 2026.

We are planning to travel to India and also apply to for her dependant visa.

My main questions are:

Is it alright for us to travel to India and apply for her UK visa from there?

Will doing this have any impact on her eligibility to register as a British citizen once I obtain ILR?
Could we face problems in India for not having a valid UK visa?
Or would it be better to apply for a UK dependant visa for her while we are still in the UK, rather than doing it from India?

I want to ensure that travelling abroad or applying from outside the UK does not affect her future citizenship application.

Thanks
