Calculating Reckonable Residence-First IRP Delay

Post by scobydoo » Fri Dec 12, 2025 4:26 pm

Context: I am about to submit my citizenship application (non-EU 5 year). I landed in Ireland in late Feb'21 and started my job via CSEP from 01-Mar-2021. However, I received my first IRP (Stamp 1) in 31-Jun-2021 i.e. ~4 months after I started my job.

Query: Am I eligible from 31-Jun-2026 i.e. 5 years from first IRP issued, or 01-Mar-2026 i.e. 5 years from when I started my job? Technically, first IRP will always have some gap from when you start your job and my logical brain says that it should be considered as Reckonable Residence.

I am unable to find any authoritative sources which says one way or the other and, thus, also not sure how to fill up the residency calculator [0] which needs to be submitted with application.

Any experience with similar issue and would like to suggest how to approach this?

I can't answer your main question, but I don't think the residency calculator needs to be submitted with the application anymore, hasn't been for a few years, you're just expected to have used it to check you'll be okay bestie submitting your application.
