Spouse Visa Adequate Maintenance Calculation

Post by Scout209 » Sun Dec 07, 2025 4:30 pm

Hi,

Can someone please confirm for adequate maintenance calculation in instance where the person lives with son who owns the home and has allowed the parent to live with them without asking for any rent or council tax and if that parent wants to sponsor their spouse and are eligible for adequate maintenance can the mortgage payment and council tax not be taken into account in the calculation as the son paying that ?

The son is also willing to provide a letter to confirm he is ok with parent living with them and there is no expectation of asking of rent or council tax.

Thanks
