Global Talent dependant extension – main applicant has ILR and form asking for visa end date

Post by mdk2547 » Fri Dec 26, 2025 6:18 pm

Hello everyone,

I am seeking guidance on completing the Global Talent dependant extension form.

I am the main applicant on a Global Talent visa until 24-01-2026 and have now been granted Indefinite Leave to Remain. My partner will be completing 2 years in the UK on 17-01-2026 as my dependant and is applying to extend for a further 3 years under the Global Talent dependant route.

However, the online form asks for the “main applicant’s visa end date”. As I now hold ILR, I no longer have a visa end date, but the system does not accept this and instead requires a date to be entered. The IHS fee is then being calculated based on whatever visa end date is entered, which is incorrectly limiting the dependant’s extension period.

Could you please advise what should be entered as the main applicant’s visa end date in this situation, so that the dependant can correctly apply for a 3-year Global Talent dependant extension when the main applicant already has ILR?

Thank you for your assistance.

Answered hundreds of times on the forum.

Put a date 3 years in the future, ie 26th December 2025 to 25th December 2028.

Many thanks for your advice. My partner's visa is expiring on 24-01-2026 and her ILR clock started from 17-01-2024. So when should I apply for extension so 5 years ILR route could cover. Sometime near 17-01-2026?

Your partner should apply to extend their dependant visa at any time before/by the expiry date of the current visa (24-01-2026).

Many thanks

What if I apply on 10-01-2026 and put the end date as 17-01-2029? because 5 years for ILR will complete on 17-01-2029.

Until 09-02-2029 in my case, IHS is £3105.

If she applies on 17th Jan then you put an end date of 16th Jan 2029 to get 3 years IHS.

If you put even one day past 3 years, you will be charged extra IHS.

So, when should I apply 'today to avoid last-minute stress or wait until 17-01-2026 Jan? so legally, she can cover 5 years on 16-01-2029?

The new visa start date will be date of approval.

You really are splitting hairs here. Just pick a date and work out 3 years and apply.
