Type A Residency Proof for Current Year

Hi guys,
I went to fill in the application form today after eventually getting my documents certified, but had a query on the Type A Proof of Residency. I have my Employment Detail Summary for all years apart from the current year 2026, since it hasn't been generated yet of course.

I saw in a few posts online suggesting that it would be best to submit Type A Proof from the current calendar year, meaning that even though the 2025 EDS technically covers the year Apr2024-Apr2026, it is better to submit evidence from dated in 2026.

In that case, the only option is to use bank statements since the Department of Social Protection Annual Contribution is also only generated at end of tax year. My issue here is that I only use my AIB account for my salary and to pay rent (because of the fees!). I send money from AIB to Revolut for daily transactions, but my Revolut was set up in the UK so has my family's UK address (British citizen applying via naturalisation).

Two questions:
(1) Is it true that the EDS for 2025 is not sufficient as Type A proof for the current rolling year?
(2) If that is true, should I submit both AIB and Revolut statements for 3 months of 2026 instead, and should I populate the affidavit with the reason for submitting both? I have a cover letter anyway to explain years of absence >70 days - is it ok just to detail the reason there instead?

I would recommend submitting your payslips from your company for the months into 2026 you don't have EDS for. I did this and it was fine. I wouldn't encourage you to send your UK Revolut statements, but if your (Irish) AIB one has the required minimum POS transactions, that would be fine, but I would say to be careful if there's not much activity, as it will raise more questions than it answers.

My suggestion is to go with the payslips and put a comment in the notes. It's not an unusual situation. You can a letter from your employer on standby but don't send them loads of unrequested info as this is something they specifically say not to do.

to be totally clear, I submitted available EDS and made up the difference with payslips with a note in the file submission and my application was approved.

Thanks a mill for the advice - so just to sanity check,
I need to submit evidence for Apr2020 - Apr2026 (additional year needed), and I will supply EDS for 2021-2025 (presume 2021 EDS is sufficient for Apr2020-Apr-2021, since we should only submit x1 for each year?) and then I will provide payslips from 2026 as Type A proof for the year Apr2025-Apr2026?

Nearlyl.Your new EDS would have been issued in Jan 2026 for the previous year, so you could submit that and only need payslips for Jan-April 2026 as your 'fill-up' Type A. Only one EDS is available each year, so anything you submit should cover the time from application.

Let me know if that doesn't make sense.

To clarify, I thought we just needed one Type A proof and one Type B proof per rolling year, so I was planning to submit the following:

- Type B: WiFi Bill Mar26

- Type A: EDS 2025 (issued in Jan 2026)
- Type B: WiFi Bill Dec24
Apr23-Apr24:
- Type A: EDS 2024
- Type B: WiFi Bill Jul23
Apr22-Apr23:
- Type A: EDS 2023
- Type B: RTB Letter (rental agreement) Jan23
Apr21-Apr22:
- Type A: EDS 2022
- Type B: WiFi Bill Nov21
Apr20-Apr21:
- Type A: EDS 2021
- Type B: WiFi Bill Jan21

I'm not sure what you mean by 'fill up' Type A. Are the proofs not based on the rolling years since application rather than calendar years?

It is confusing! And yes it is rolling years for submission but obviously documents like EDS don’t roll like that.

What I’m suggesting is you submit your 2025 EDS which takes you to end of calendar 2025. Then use your payslips for Jan-Apr 2026 (or whatever you need to fill in the blanks from when you EDS doesn’t cover you. You can submit two types of type A in this instance. All I can say is that’s what I did in an almost identical situation as yours and it was approved without question. Reading your post again it seems we are saying the same thing.
