Dependent Visa for my Child

Post by laxman28 » Wed Apr 29, 2026 9:19 am

Hi, Currently I am on Skilled worker visa in UK and about to get my ILR in couple of moths
(July), my wife already has dependent visa ending in September 2026 and our kid is born in India and i am planning to get him . As i am planning to get ILR In couple of months and any how i need to change them to ILR dependent visa, I won’t to avoid paying for dependent visa fee and IHS charges twice for my kid therefore i am exploring options to see if i can bring him on tourist visa/Visit Visa to join us here in UK and later i will switch him to dependent visa...Can any one please help me on this

I want to know what is the best route to get my wife and kid in this scenario

You cannot switch from a visitor visa to a dependant visa from within the UK.

ILR dependant visa does not exist. Your dependants will remain as Skilled Worker dependants even after you get ILR.

Your child can apply for a SW dependant visa now and it'll be valid until September 2026 as his other parent. Children always follow the path of the less privileged parent.
