child dependent visa application when mom is on ILR and dad is on skilled worker visa

Post by zealprashant » Wed May 27, 2026 8:08 am

Hello friends,

Hope you’re all doing well.

Context:
My daughter’s Skilled Worker dependent visa (which was originally granted as a dependent of my wife) is due to expire in the first week of July. I’m planning to apply for her visa extension soon.

Situation / Query:
My wife received her ILR last year and applied for naturalisation in February 2026. She is currently awaiting the outcome and may become a British citizen soon.

I, on the other hand, am still on a Skilled Worker visa valid until May 2028.

This is where I’m confused:
For my daughter’s dependent visa extension, who should I select as the main applicant — her mother or father?

I want to avoid any delays and ensure the application process goes smoothly and on time.

I’d really appreciate any guidance or advice from anyone who has been in a similar situation.

Thank you very much in advance

Your daughter is the main applicant.

You can use either yourself or your wife. It doesn't matter.

Her extension will be valid till the same date as yours.
