Citizenship Application Documents – Checklist Review

Post by OB1881 » Tue Feb 03, 2026 11:30 am

Hello,

I got my ILR last week through the spouse route (non-EU) and have uploaded all the citizenship documents from the checklist. Just checking if I missed anything.

The documents on the checklist were:

• Colour copies of all pages of the applicant’s passport or travel document, including blank pages. Done and also included an older passport that has some stamps covering the period.

• Proof of residence in the UK for the required period. I’ve attached the passports, but should I add anything else, such as airline tickets or letter from employer?

• Marriage or civil partnership certificate.

• Degree certificate confirming the required level of English (My bachelor’s degree).

• Two referee declarations (1- Teacher 2- Senior marketing manager).

• Ecctis letter confirming the qualification meets the recognised UK standard and the level of English. (Uploaded the UK NARIC letter, that enough?)

• Proof of British spouse’s citizenship (Spouse’s complete passport, should I add their Naturalization certificate)

Have I missed anything ? I also wanted to check whether I should include evidence of my Indefinite Leave to Remain (biometric) and the Life in the UK test, as I’ve seen some people upload these.

Thanks

Thanks
I am assuming you are married to a British citizen, in this case you only need to supply evidence for the last 3 years. Make sure you review all requirements.

Sorry for intruding on someone else's post. We’re kind of starting the same process, my partner is applying for British citizenship and she has passed her LITUK test a few years ago when applying for ILR and we were going though all the documentation required now and we can’t find the test results, just the email with the reference number, so I wanted to make sure this would suffice or will we have to upload a copy of the pass results confirmation, as we don’t want to apply and then lose all this money :(

2- I’m British, so I guess 3 years will be enough for proof of residence. Is the passport + council tax letters enough as proof of residence or should we upload other documents, as letters from HMRC, NHS etc?

You shouldn't tag onto someone else's post for your own questions.

URN for LITUK will be enough.
For residence, if you partner gets their passport stamped, copies of the passport, all pages, will suffuce if 3 years are covered.

Yes, I’m sorry, I realised after I had posted but I couldn’t find a way to remove my msg. :(
Thanks a lot for replying though. I won’t make the same mistake again.
